Workshop Series: So I have this idea…..
The idea behind this series of workshops stems from the fact that its often hard to find good, solid feedback on art endeavors outside of the structured, academic setting. Unlike a traditional “Portfolio Review”, So I have this idea offers a more organic, participatory approach to critique. In three sessions, each two months apart, participants will have the opportunity to work through their ideas from spark to finish. Between sessions, a google-group will provide support and encourage discourse, and if applicable, collaboration. All realized projects will be featured on the Art Technology New England website, with a physical “opening reception” to happen at Axiom Center for New and Experimental Media in October of 2010.
Workshop #1: So I have this idea…
Participants should come with an idea they wish to further. The idea can be in any stage, but this session will be solely for conceptual feedback, with some technical suggestions if applicable. Bring any necessary presentation items in order to best explain the project to the class.
Workshop #2: So I have this idea, but its not quite there yet…
This session is meant for participants who are either in the mid stages of their project and are looking for feedback, or for those who have hit a “stopping point”- needing either technical expertise, physical help, or other assistance.
Workshop #3: So I had this idea, look what I did!
This session is for final presentations of work. The workshop will proceed in the style of an academic critique, moderated by a guest critic, with the artists presenting their work, and the participants providing feedback and insight. Although further work on specific pieces is encouraged, projects are expected to be completed enough for public presentation.
All projects from Workshop #3 will be featured on the ATNE website, and a reception for the virtual “show” will be held at Axiom in October of 2010.
Workshop Costs:
Each session: $20/ $15 ATNE Members
All three sessions: $50/ $40 ATNE Members
